In the 18th century, the Nestelberg – Ebnisee toboggan path in the Swabian Forest was a path specially created for the purpose of transporting wood by sledge. It led from Nestelberg to Ebnisee, from where the wood was transported on over the Wieslauf by rafts. Until 1844 there was no alternative to sledging and water transport, then the network of trails was also expanded in remote areas, and thanks to the railway, coal could then be brought in over great distances
