Holme Bridge Over the River Irt

This delightful, single-arch packhorse bridge crosses the River Irt between Ravenglass and Drigg. The river was once a source of precious pearls prior to the 19th century, this treasure is now depleted.
The Irt's source is at the meeting of Lingmell Beck and Mosedale Beck, which flow down from some of England's highest mountains, including Scafell Pike. It quickly meets England's deepest lake, Wast Water, before making its way to the Irish Sea at Ravenglass.
