Huldenberg Castle is nestled between wooded hills and rolling meadows in the picturesque Dijle Valley. Although it is privately owned and not open to visitors, the stately building with its towers and surrounding park forms a beautiful backdrop along your route. Just outside the village center, towards the municipality of Overijse, the castle of Huldenberg shows off. The building was originally furnished in the Empire style in 1811, but was thoroughly renovated during the Flemish Neo-Renaissance (1926-1927). The castle is still inhabited and therefore not open to the public. A fun fact is that grape cultivation under glass was developed in the conservatories of the castle. In 1861-1863 the gardener, Felix Sohie from Hoeilaart, grew grapes for the very first time in the greenhouses of the then owner of the castle, Baron Baudequin de Peuthy. A bronze memorial plaque depicting Sohie at the entrance of the castle park on the Peuthystraat commemorates this event.
