Tips
The hamlets of Rijsdam and Over de Dijk are reminiscent of the dam in the Ruiten Aa and the Sellinger Leidijk. At the beginning of the 17th century, a dam of brushwood led the water of the Ruiten Aa towards Bourtange. That area had to remain swampy to hold back the enemies from the east.
