During the heyday of cobalt and copper slate mining in
The area around Schweina was left by the mine owner and spa
Saxon court councilor Johannes Friedrich Trier from Dresden built the castle as a mansion in 1703.
The castle park, initially as a pleasure garden in the French
Designed in style, it was later converted into an "English garden". In 1706, Duke Ernst Ludwig of Saxe-Meiningen gave the mine and thus also this listed ensemble the name "Glücks-Bronn". (...v. information board)

Glücksbrunn Palace was built in 1703 on behalf of the Saxon court councilor Johann Friedrich Trier, who lived in Dresden.
In 1701, the wealthy court official achieved a revival of mining around Schweina by purchasing mines and smelting works.
As early as 1705, there were twelve smelting works and over 100 mine shafts in operation.
The demand for cobalt minerals brought additional profits.
