Hiking
Here water from the Alb and the Rhine is channeled into the Upper Old Rhine. Of course only if there is enough water. This place is used by the Eggenstein Fishermen's Association as a water conservation area, so fishing is prohibited here. The inflow brings fresh water into the Old Rhine, which would otherwise silt up. The Alrhein was cleared of sludge as part of the LIFE project, the fresh water is intended to prevent further silting. At the same time, the natural oxygen supply significantly increases the living conditions of fish. This makes fishing much more attractive.
