The oldest surviving documentary mention as Crumbach dates from the year 1148. Other historically documented forms of name are (in brackets the year of the mention) Crumpach (1219, 1372, 1433), Krumppach (1434) and Crumbach (1653). [2] The Fränkisch-Crumbach form has been in use since 1822.
