Best Hikes to Rodenstein Castle Ruins

Tips

  • The castle was built around 1240 by the brothers Rudolf and Friedrich von Crumbach, who called themselves "Von Rodenstein" from 1256 onwards. The castle has borne their name ever since. In the years that followed, the complex was rebuilt several times and its appearance changed. The Rodenstein family lived here until they died of the plague in 1635. Because the castle was no longer used, it slowly fell into disrepair. You can find more information at the castle gate.
