The castle was built around 1240 by the brothers Rudolf and Friedrich von Crumbach, who called themselves from 1256 "Von Rodenstein". Since then, the castle bears her name. In the following years, the system was rebuilt several times and has changed its appearance. The family Rodenstein lived here until she died of the plague in 1635. Because the castle was not used anymore, it slowly decayed. At the castle gate you will find more information.

Well preserved ruin with some hidden angles.
Is well suited for a little rest, if you do not want to run down to the inn, or has its own food.

The ruin is freely accessible and there is the opportunity to rest below. It is easily accessible from the "Freiheit" parking lot. Can be easily integrated into larger tours🤗

Beautiful castle ruins with circular path. Good to reach in the summer, but in wet weather good footwear is recommended.

Great castle ruins-quite manageable and fix visited. There are still enough remains of the wall to be able to imagine the former castle well.
