The St. Laurentius Church in Tönning is located right in the town center on the Tönning market. At 62 m high, it is the second largest church in the South Schleswig region. It still stands partly on the original fieldstones from the time it was built.
A church was built on this site as early as 1186, and was rebuilt several times over the years until the current church was finally built.
The tower is striking, with its height of 62 m. The model for the tower was St. Trinitatis in Hamburg-Altona.
Inside the church, the half-height carved oak wall (rood screen) from 1635 is worth mentioning. The baroque organ dates from 1681, the pulpit from 1703. In general, it can be said that the interior dates from the 16th and 17th centuries. Also worth seeing is the impressive triumphal cross, which is said to have been built around the year 1500. Overall, a very beautiful church.

The Protestant St. Laurentius Church, whose north wall dates back to the 12th century, stands on the market square. The baroque spire was built between 1703 and 1706.
