The previous owners of the Niedergurig manor were the Counts of Lützelburg, Reder and Lüttichau. after that it came into the possession of the Countess von Schönburg-Fordglauchau.The estate used to have two distilleries and a brewery.

The manor with a picturesque mill, whose house (similar to the one in Radibor) was abandoned in 1950 for ideological reasons, goes back to an old water-fortified complex, of which a vaulted building, regarded as a chapel, is still preserved today in the economic area. It still shows the baroque complex with cour d’honneur, cavalier house and gatehouse, as well as wing buildings and corner pavilions on an island on the Spree. After Count Wallwitz had been expropriated in 1945, the castle island is now owned by the Dahmen-Wassenberg family from the Lower Rhine region.
