The sculpture “Wooden Coat” by the artist Maik Scheermann is a round steel frame equipped with branches. The raw material used, wood, illustrates both its use in forestry and energy production as well as its cultural-historical and economic significance. The round shape of the sculpture symbolizes a fictitious movement of the figure out of the forest and into the forest, thus illustrating the aspect of sustainable use of wood as energy. The work of art consists of an internal steel structure with a surrounding layer of branches. These strong branches on the surface of the sphere refer to the thin living layer of the earth's crust on which all life resides. In the context of architecture, this mantle becomes a cubature, in a figurative sense the spatial bark. The sculpture represents the cycles of nature and the use of nature in a cycle of movement and (apparent) rest. These conditions reflect the past, present and future of renewable energy sources.
