The oldest parish church in the city is the Church of St. Victor. Its origins date back to the 8th century, as evidenced by the bell-casting pit from that period discovered during archaeological excavations.

A Romanesque stone building from the 11th century was expanded into a hall church between 1351 and 1443. The construction of the new square tower was completed in 1601. St. Victor thus received its shape, which largely remained until it was completely destroyed in March 1945.

The current church building testifies to the difficulties of the subsequent reconstruction. Only the Gothic choir was rebuilt in its old form. The nave was spanned by a steel structure instead of the original vault. Sandstone was used for the Romanesque north wall of the outer wall. The south wall was built of bricks for cost reasons. The window in the tower shows the burning Church of St. Victor, next to it the St. Martin's parish church in Baar in Switzerland. After 1945, there was a partnership between these two communities.

Inside the church, the baptismal font from the 13th century and the Gothic tabernacle (15th century) are particularly worth mentioning, as well as the triumphal cross above the altar island (also 15th century) and the four-meter-high late Gothic Passion Column (around 1460).

The parish church of St. Viktor was destroyed in the Second World War and then rebuilt in a slightly different form. Items worth mentioning include a late Romanesque baptismal font (around 1250), a three-seater (around 1440) and a Gothic sacrament house.
