    Zinc was mined on the banks of the Volbach, and so you can still find old houses and remains of the mines today, like here in Wulfshof.

    Hiking

    The Birkerhof (with r) is not here, but 1 km further up the hill. The Berzelius zinc mine was closed here in 1924, a Catholic youth center was set up in 1925, and in 1935 a National Socialist camp for the country year, the "Wulfshof" (after which the street is still called). The magnet producer Max Baermann has had his headquarters here since 1943.
    The striking ruins of the ore processing plant from 1900, although listed, are unfortunately not explained anywhere.

    Hiking

    This was originally the "new" processing plant of the Berzelius zinc mine. It was in operation from 1900 to 1924. There are numerous dumps and dumps with steep embankments in the area. It's hard to believe how industrial it looked here a hundred years ago:
