Y Garn is the first summit on the Nantlle Ridge from Rhyd Ddu. Its steep northeast face gives it an intimidating apperance but the normal route of ascent is relatively straightforward, missing the stacked contours by taking you up its broad eastern flanks.

From Y Garn's summit you can enjoy the Nantlle Ridge's most iconic sight: the arrowhead of Mynydd Drws-y-Coed backed by the craggy Trum y Ddysgl. If completing the traverse, this is the way ahead – an exciting prospect indeed.

Y Garn is a top of Mynydd Drws-y-Coed in Snowdonia, north Wales and is the easterly end of the Nantlle Ridge. It has steep north facing cliffs, the summit area being the highest point on a broad rocky plateau. It has a cairned summit. It is a UK listed Nuttall.

Steep pull to the top from rhydd du but worth the effort as views are incredible. Great views of the Snowdon range and Moel hebog.
