A two-platform station that was opened in 1878 as part of the Great Northern Railway, and closed in 1962. It formed part of the Friargate line between Derby and Nottingham.
The remains show the footprint of the waiting rooms, platform, and signal box.

The site is suffering from vandalism so visit before it has totally gone. The signal box footprint has had most of its walls pushed over and one of the level crossing gates has rotted, been removed by the Council, and it doesn't appear that it will return.

A length of the old trackbed has been opened up as the Great Northern Greenway bridlepath through Breadsall since 2009 and the site of the station is now more accessible.
