The current form of Huis Voorstonden dates from 1871. The original house is probably much older, given the cellars dating from the 14th-16th century.
The house is built in classicist style. The gardens surrounding the house were designed in the 1920s. The gardens are geometrically laid out and you will find many roses and boxwood.

n Voorstonden is also the castle Huis Voorstonden. It dates back to the Middle Ages but has since been thoroughly renovated. The House includes a park designed by Jan David Zocher. The southern garden has recently been reconstructed from an early twentieth century design by Leonard Springer. The estate also houses the thickest giant sequoia in the Netherlands. This tree was planted in 1865 and has a circumference of 8.3 meters
