The sculpture was unveiled on May 1, 2004, on the day Poland joined the European Union. It shows a man crossing the river on a rope, holding a pole in one hand and an arrow in the other. On his shoulder he carries Roman sandals - identical to those worn by the Bydgoszcz "Łuczniczka". There is a swallow under the rope.
