Here we find a memorial plaque for the RAF Pilot Flight Sergeant Peter Ralph Attwooll. With his Spitfire MK XVI, RR 255, 9 NY he is part of a section of the RAF 127 Squadron with Woensdrecht as home base, which carries out a shelling on 29 December 1944 in the area of Andel. The aircraft is hit in the radiator by German anti-aircraft fire and Peter Ralph Attwooll makes a forced emergency landing in this area, crashes and is found dead as a result of combustion in his Spitfire. His remains are transferred to Breda, where he is temporarily buried and later given his final resting place in the British War Cemetery in Bergen op Zoom.
