Bernisse Recreation Area

You can row, canoe, surf and of course swim. Sailing with motor boats is not allowed, this is a beautiful area for bird watchers and fishermen. The cycle paths connect the historic village centers with Spijkenisse. In the recreation area De Bernisse you can enjoy various swimming locations. In Zuidland there is a beach on the east and west side of the Stompaardseplas. Much of this lake is used as a surfing lake. On the west side of Zuidland is a 'floundering pond' especially for young children. In Simonshaven there is a large beach at the Stompaardseplas In the Hoenderhoek you will find a beach on the east side located at a day camping site. By crossing the Gemeenlandse Rak you will arrive at the beach on the east side of Abbenbroek. Here you can surf and fish. At most beaches there are small catering tents and you can use the play and sunbathing areas. The areas are easily accessible by car and bicycle and offer plenty of parking options. Walking paths and cycling routes have been laid out everywhere.

Very quiet and no mopeds are allowed on the paths.

Recreation area Bernisse. The Bernisse is 7 kilometers long and consists of lakes, bowls and pools. Together with the forests, marshy nature and meadows, the area is 300 hectares. Special beaches, slipways and jetties have been made. You can row, canoe, surf and of course swim.
