The Chapel of St. Benedict was built in 1696 by two donors from nearby towns. But there was probably a chapel in front of it. In 1984 the building was destroyed by an avalanche and today offers a special photo opportunity in the wonderful landscape.

According to the Disentis monastery chronicle from 1696, Ms. Rigenza de Valle from the hamlet of Val in Sumvitg and Chonrad de Rusen from Ruschein built the chapel of S. Benedet (Chapel of St. Benedict) in 1268 above the village of Sumvitg. In 1984 it was destroyed by an avalanche and rebuilt a little further up.

There is a larger parking lot for hikers next to the ruins.
