Since 1871 there has been a supervised deer park with a max. 9 Fallow deer as a reminder of the legend of the city's foundation. The Rapperswil-Jona Tourist Office (since 2017: Rapperswil Zürichsee Tourismus) has taken on permanent responsibility for the popular animal enclosure since it was founded in 1892. A trained wild animal keeper takes care of the animal-friendly and loving care of the deer.
