    Hurden Chapel
The pretty chapel built in 1497 is located right at the end of the wooden bridge, which connected Rapperswil with Hurden from 1358 to 1878 as part of the historic Way of St. James.

      Hurden Chapel
As a passage between Hurden and Rapperswil there has been a railing-free wooden footbridge since 1358, the forerunner of the sea dam that was built in 1878. The hermit monastery administrator Gerold Spervogel had the chapel built at his own expense in 1497. After the chapel was built, the first inns appeared in Hurden. The chapel and inns bear witness to the lively traffic of pilgrims across the pier to Einsiedeln and on to Santiago de Compostela.
The simple building with the small choir has two pointed Gothic windows in the nave and in the choir. A turret with a pointed helmet sits on the gabled roof. During the renovation of 1602, Heinrich Schiess von Rapperswil painted the mural of the crucified Jesus with Mary and John.
In 1908 the bishop of Chur had already approved the demolition of the dilapidated chapel; but Josefina Truttmann-Helbling, landlady in the neighboring Gasthof zum Adler, collected the money for the renovation of 1909. Since 1960 the Kapellgenossenschaft has looked after the chapel, which belongs to the Catholics of Hurden.

The fishing business right next to it is also worth seeing.
