Lindisfarne Priory is a magnificent ruin that is intimately connected with the history of Christianity in Britain. The priory was founded in 634 AD by Irish monk Saint Aidan, who had been sent to Northumbria at the request of King Oswald. The site is in the care of English Heritage. Nice site, with a lot of history. Once Vikings made their bloody entrance here.
