In 1646 the chapel of St. Roch and St. Sebastian was built in Schmitzhöhe. In 1754 she received a bronze bell.

Soon after his death, Saint Roch of Montpellier was worshiped as a saint of the plague in the Rhineland. When the Bergisches Land was hit particularly hard by the plague in the 17th century, four Rochus chapels were built in the vicinity of Lindlar: in Kemmerich, Heiligenhaus, Loope and in Sand near Bergisch Gladbach. Two other plague chapels also owe their existence to this period: the Sebastianuskirche in Schmitzhöhe and the chapel in Oberbreidenbach.

The chapel in Schmitzhöhe is dedicated to Saints Sebastian and Rochus and was built in 1646.

The beautiful little chapel was built in 1646. If you like, you can linger briefly on the benches in front of it.
