It is part of the main Alpine ridge, which continues north over the Lahnsattel (1015 m) to the Göller (1766 m) and west over the Freinsattel (1106 m) to the Hohen Student (1539 m). Valley locations are Frein in the southern uppermost Mürz Valley and Terz in the northern Salzatal.
At the eastern end of the gentle, elongated and unwooded Wildalpen ridge is the extensive Sulzrieglalm (around 1150 m). There is also a transmitter near the summit.
