The boardwalk was discovered while peat was being extracted, examined and covered again. Together with the rewetting measures of the moor, it is preserved for eternity.
The path probably ended at this place and it is assumed that the Celts had a place of worship here in 600 BC - in the middle of the former moor.
If you have weak knees now, you can sit on the bench, which is also here.
The forest here was created when the moor was drained. You will find an information board at the Kneipp facility at the southern end of the path.

Due to a scientific excavation in 1967, the Bohlenweg could be traced back to around 600 BC. The Museum Torfbahnhof shows the very well-preserved planks from the Celtic era, see museum-torfbahnhof.de/de/museum/ausstellung
