The constitutional column - together with the King Anton Monument - reminds of the democratic awakening in Germany. The basic body corresponds to the reduced Zittau version.

The constitutional column is completely new. On the front there is the inscription: “In memory of the foundation of the first Saxon constitution in 1831 by King Anton with the statutes”. The constitution deals with the rights of fellow citizens, which were very revolutionary at the time. Today parts of this first constitution are anchored in our Basic Law. A few of these rights are e.g. freedom of belief, freedom of person, tax and duty for all.
