While much of the path is accessible, be aware that a section between Campo dei Fiori and the junction of trail 307 and Piazzale Belvedere currently has a temporary closure with a detour in place. For convenient intermediate access, you can find parking available at Bar-Ristorante Irma.

The route begins with a wide, cobbled pedestrian path leading to Sacro Monte di Varese, where 14 Baroque chapels line the Via Sacra. At the summit, you reach the medieval village of Santa Maria del Monte, offering expansive views. Continuing to Monte Tre Croci, you will find three large white concrete crosses marking the summit, providing further panoramic vistas of the Varese hills and Po Valley. The trail includes natural paths, unpaved sections, and winds through tranquil oak and chestnut forests.
This loop tour requires good to very good fitness and sure-footedness due to its varied terrain, which includes alpine sections beyond the initial paved path. While the first part to Sacro Monte di Varese is accessible for all skill levels, the full circuit is considered hard. Sturdy shoes are recommended for the longer route. The trail is located within a regional park, so be mindful of local regulations. You can find restaurants and amenities in the village of Santa Maria del Monte at the top of Sacro Monte di Varese.
