This chapel, built after 1624, was financed by the noble Milanese brothers Giovan Pietro and Giovan Antonio Carcano, whose coat of arms hangs on the pediment.

Francesco Silva sculpted the very crowded scene of perfect figures and thirty high reliefs, the cherubs, Christ ascending to heaven in the centre, surrounded by dense golden rays carved into the wood. The Virgin and the Apostles attend the event with a variety of gestures and expressions. Behind the Madonna is engraved the date of completion of the group (1632).

Only a few scenes remain of the decorations by the Lampugnani brothers (1633), who also collaborated in Santa Maria del Monte on the impressive fresco of the Adoration of the Shepherds, which were completed with pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries.
