Francesco Silva sculpted the very crowded scene of perfect figures and thirty high reliefs, the cherubs, Christ ascending to heaven in the centre, surrounded by dense golden rays carved into the wood. The Virgin and the Apostles attend the event with a variety of gestures and expressions. Behind the Madonna is engraved the date of completion of the group (1632).
