They were completed in 1617, as revealed by the date engraved on the side of the altar with the sculptor's name. On the left, a thief tries to steal some coins and a dog silently watching him are details that lighten the solemnity of the scene.
The walls were decorated by the Milanese Giovanni Ghisolfi, who tried to reconstruct the interior of the Temple of Jerusalem through strict perspective square paintings and painted figures in dialogue with the terracotta statues.
