Today's village church was commissioned by the then owner and patron Ferdinand Thomas v. Waldow (1765-1830) built from 1819 to 1821 and inaugurated in 1821. The floor plan of the church is an elongated octagon measuring 10 x 15 meters inside. At the beginning of the 1990s the church was threatened with decay. The Dannenwalder Förderkreis "Culture and Church along the way", founded in 1994, worked together with the parish for the renovation of the church, in which concerts, exhibitions and readings are now offered in addition to church services. At Easter 1998 the church was consecrated again.
