Saint Odrada Chapel and Well

This chapel was built in 1896 in the vicinity of the Hof van Scheps. Legend has it that it was in this Frankish court that Saint Odrada was born in the eighth century. She was invoked against eye and livestock diseases and by 1654 her relics were in Balen.Facing the chapel, there is a Lourdes cave made of imitation rocks. Behind the chapel you found the Odrada well with beneficial water against eye ailments and animal diseases. In the northern corner of this park you will see a stone Odrada statue on a brick plinth with the inscription 'Balen aan Ste Odrada / July 13, 1947'. It is a faithful copy of an 1891 statue from the Sint-Andrieskerk.
