Special hidden gem of Treviso. A fountain with all kinds of stories.
But what is his real story?

It was 1559 when the then mayor of Treviso, Alvise Da Ponte, had this unique statue built after a severe drought had hit the area.

During the Venetian era (until 1797) the statue was placed in the praetorian palace. To celebrate the election of the mayors, for three days every year, white wine was poured from one chest and red wine from the other, so that all citizens could drink freely... a kind of ombralonga

Here is the original statue of the 'Fontana delle Tette'. It is an ancient sculpted fountain that, under the rule of the Republic of Venice, poured white wine from one chest and red wine from the other on the occasion of special celebrations.

A copy of this original sculpture is located in the small courtyard of Palazzo Zignoli. This is accessible via the Calmaggiore gallery. This original artifact can be admired under this display case.

The Tette Fountain was created in 1559 by order of the mayor after a severe drought that affected the city and surrounding countryside.
