Johann Georg Fischer died with great honor on May 4, 1897 in Stuttgart at the age of 80. His resting place in the Prague Cemetery is a listed building.
In 1900, a bronze bust was erected in Stuttgart-West as a monument to the poet by Professor Emil Kiemlen (cast: Paul Stotz) (at the end of the green area in the lower Hasenbergsteig).
