The "Auenland" cycle path leads past a canoe entrance and along the river. The view over the river immediately sets the feeling of relaxation. The view falls on a wide, clear and shallow waters with small naturally shaped green islands. Maybe a swan family swims towards you or cormorants make themselves comfortable on a tree. An idyll near the city. There is nothing to suggest that until the mid-1990s the river was forced into a rigid corset by embankments and only had a third of its present width. So the water should be removed as quickly as possible in order to make better use of the land on both sides of the river, for example, as arable land. But not only did flora and fauna deteriorate more and more, it also caused flood problems.
