Castle Hartenfels is very worth seeing especially through its history and the 3 bears that protect the building in the moat. In addition to the old bridgehead is a nice beer garden invites you to linger.

The first permanent crossing of the Elbe River is believed to have existed as early as 1070. Further details about the structure are unknown. This also applies to a bridge from the beginning of the 14th century. Accounts document the completion of a wooden bridge in 1440 and repair work in 1460 and 1462.
On April 25, 1945, the tied-arch bridge was blown up by German units. On the same day, soldiers of the 69th US Infantry Division and the Soviet 58th Guards Division shook hands on the destroyed Elbe bridge. The event is commemorated as Elbe Day.
