A raised bog that appears to still be intact collects water that flows towards Braunlage as the Great Bode. North of Braunlage it joins the Little Bode to form the Warm Bode. This flows to Königshütte and joins the Cold Bode there. As the Bode, the spring water from the Harz flows to Nienburg and from there into the Saale and further to the sea.
You walk along it and have no idea what journey the spring water is about to take. Simply fantastic!
