The history of the mill location in Kienitz an der Oder goes back well into the 19th century. For several generations, the Schröder family operated a steam cutting mill to process the wood that was floated and delivered. This came on ships on the Oder in order to be further processed here. This resulted in a sawmill and the necessary outbuildings. Only later was the building used as a mill. The Kienitz harbor mill was only built in the 20th century as a grain mill and was probably operated with electricity from the start.
The imposing brick building now houses a café on the ground floor and holiday apartments (for 2-4 people) on the first floor of the building. The gallery hosts four to five exhibitions a year in various manuscripts and art genres.
