I recommend using the dump only with an all-terrain bike. The up / downhill consists partly of coarse gravel and rubble. The rain has done the rest over the years. With a "classic" city bike, I would therefore recommend the Hoheward dump, as there is an asphalt up / downhill section there.

The almost 70-meter-high slag heap is located north of the A2 motorway in the Gelsenkirchen-Buer district. From the "night signs" on the summit, the Rungenberg slag heap offers an impressive view of the Ruhr area.
Connected to the cycle path system (Hugotrasse), not far away is the railway guard's house at Alfred-Konter-Platz, as well as the Schüngelberg settlement and, in the northern area, the district park with the green laboratory, which covers various subject areas for extracurricular lessons.
