The Gertrudenkapelle was built in the 16th century in front of the Uelzener Stadtmauer on the Gudestor and served as a hostel for travelers. The single-aisled brick building under steep saddle roof was a donation of the citizen Hans Hosteke. Altarpiece and windows are by Renate Strasser (1950s). On the side of the street, Uelzen artist Georg Lipinsky recorded the history of the city on clay tablets.
