Friedrich August the Just was a prince from the Wettin family, born on December 23rd, 1750 in Dresden and died there on May 5th, 1827. With the Peace of Poznan on December 11, 1806, Friedrich August joined the Rhine Confederation, founded on July 17, 1806, and was made king (as Friedrich August I) by Napoléon. Due to his loyalty to Napoleon, at whose side he was defeated in the Battle of Nations, Friedrich August I had to cede part of Saxony - today part of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt - to Prussia on January 10, 1815 (Vienna Treaty).
