The “Schlangenweg” (Route 6) is an approx. 4.5km round tour between Aumühle and Friedrichsruh - this is also the “official” starting point. We started "against the grain" in Aumühle on the lower part. Here the beautiful narrow path meanders through the so-called Aumühler Grüben - hence the name.

Hiking

You can explore the Sachsenwald on six signposted paths. All signposted circular hiking trails start at the train stations in Friedrichsruh or Aumühle. The shortest route, the Snake Path, is just under five kilometers long and is suitable for a long walk. Among other things, it leads to the butterfly garden. The path winds through the so-called Aumühler Grüben - hence its name “Snake Path”.
