The oak gives the whole area a concise name. Due to the new road construction, the tree is now only a marginal phenomenon.

This oak was planted personally on October 16, 1833 by the then Crown Prince and later King Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia (1795-1861). The prince had paid a visit to Berleburg Castle and was on his way with his large entourage to the then famous Müsener Stahlberg, the most famous mine in the Siegerland region.

The route took him via Erndtebrück, today's B62, now called "Kronprinzenstraße", to Lützel. On the Lützeler Höhe, where he turned off to Hilchenbach, he planted a young oak tree with the great participation of the leading personalities of the local area. The oak embodies the symbol of strength and stability. A park-like green area was created around the newly planted oak. Unfortunately, not much of this once magnificent area can be seen today. However, the small trunk has become a mighty solitary oak tree and is the last witness to this important event.
