On the Kutschenberg there is a group of trees directly on the former inner German border. Hence the name: WestEastern Gate. It is formed by two 12 meter high oak trunks, which are connected at the bottom to a stainless steel threshold.
They are framed by 66 red oaks. Over time, these are supposed to grow over the oak trunks to symbolize the growing together of West and East.
The WestEast Gate was opened in June 2002 by former Soviet head of state M. Gorbachev.

The two oak trunks symbolize an open gate, which, located directly on the green ribbon, is synonymous with the open border and that West and East grow together.
