Stintmarkt Lüneburg

The smelt market is located in a picturesque old town on the Ilmenau in Lüneburg (also called the Lüneburg water district). Here you can i.a. admire the replicas of two old boats (a pram boat and a salt waterer) from the Hanseatic era. The old wooden crane is also worth seeing and can also be viewed from the inside during city tours.

The smelt market is located in the historic water district of Lüneburg. The fish species "smelt" used to be traded here, a small herring-like fish that was very popular in the Middle Ages.
