The Needle’s Eye is a sandstone pyramid, 14 metres high with an arch through the middle. It was built in the mid-18th Century by Mason John Carr under the instructions of the 1st Marquis of Rockingham.
The story goes that the Marquis bet a friend that he could drive his horses through the eye of a needle. I order to win the bet he had this standalone “needle” constructed exactly wide enough for a small carriage to pass through.

Can be a bit difficult to get to on a bike, but the views and ride is fun. Don’t go on a wet day as it will be a 10/10 slop fest
