Gearstones Farm – Cam High Road loop from Ribblehead (Hike 82)

Set off time: - 7:45 - 11:15 AM Hike: 22.12 KM BPM 124 Elevation 732 m Weather / humidity Average pace 6.3 KM/PH Fastest KM 5:27 Slowest KM 19:41 Overall time 3:30:16 Calories burned 1660 Train time: 6:33 - 7:45 AM Train back: 12:21 - 1:19 PM (have to run/jog 5KM to make that train time) A great hike a fair bit of running done, first 3KM then a further 2 KM later and then to finish of down the route I’m familiar with down Whernside adding a further 2KM the route was spectacular all the way throughout and for 19 KM I didn’t see one soul on my route it looked like one that not many would walk through and I made the most of it. It started with hail and wind and lightened up as I got in to cowgil where I met a splendid old man who was intrigued as to what route I was taking he seemed a little concerned but I reassured him the Yorkshire dales is now like a second home and it would be very unlikely I’d get lost. The views were illustrious expanding to dent and sedhburg and I could even see a few peaks via the Lake District from blea more. I loved every part of it as hard as it feels at times and reminds me I’ve ran around these peaks three times I can’t wait for another attempt down here to get my marathon in for the year it’s the best place for it. Hike 82 in the books and a nice run to warmup the legs beforehand can’t complain at all! Happy hunting

Stainforth waterfall - View of Settle and Ribblesdale loop from settle (Hike No. 81)

Set off time: - 6:33 - 10:52 AM Hike: 19.36 KM BPM 120 Elevation 612 m Weather / humidity 6, 94% Average pace 4.5 KM/PH Fastest KM 10:11 Slowest KM 17:29 Overall time 4:19:21 Calories burned 1950 Train time: 5:30 - 6:23 AM Train back: 12:36 - 1:19 PM A stupendously beautiful hike, the sun made everything so clear and the last time I came here I couldn’t see what I saw today, the limestone hills were particularly graceful sitting peacefully as the bird whistled their soliloquy’s. Views of the slate mine, the three peaks dotted around, couldn’t ask for a better day out, I cut 5 miles of due to my knee playing up but that just allowed me to take in everything in a more respectful manner. Stainforth waterfall was sublime and I spent 20 minutes by it just listening. Ahead was another waterfall around 30 minutes, scar gill I believe it was a sight to behold and a welcome cooling reprieve from the sun today. Rolling hills plenty of sheep and fellow hikers later in the morning. That’s hike 81 and the goals continue a lovely retreat from day to day life and settle is a gorgeous place second visit and I’m just as impressed as the first! The best moment has to be when I stopped at catrigg force, it was so peaceful and another wanderer gazed upon its beauty we both stared and took it in, in silence that was special admiring nature together in silence and an understanding that was in the air of breathing and seeing and being present
