A stairway leads up to the Schauenburg. It's the shortest route up there, but also the steepest. The stairs from the foot of the Schauenburg are without railings - at the top of the ruin the wooden steps are secured with railings. The stairs get quite slippery when wet. If you want to do without stairs as far as possible, you have to climb the Schauenburg from the north.
