The Reicherskreuzer Heide is a special heathland area on a former military training area. Therefore, warnings are given against entering certain areas. However, a beautiful circular route is signposted. It begins on the street and initially leads towards the observation tower. There are many very informative information boards along the way. Part of the area was acquired by NABU and secured for nature conservation and the preservation of the heathland.
It is worth making the somewhat longer detour to the Foundlings Park.

Sheep are also used to preserve the area. There are 2 flocks of sheep in the area. They are guarded by herd guard dogs and although there are several packs of wolves in the area, no sheep have been torn down. You can also find information about this on the boards.

The best time of year is of course late summer, when the heather is in bloom!
