The “Upper Gate” is also called the “Gottfriedsbogen”.
"Gate building of the monastery, built in 1721 as a two-story building with a mansard roof and a side staircase; on the upper floor a banquet hall with a stucco ceiling. What is remarkable is the dynamic architectural structure and the rich, sculptural architectural decoration. The construction of the building dates back to a heyday of the monastery under Abbot Andreas Brandt, who ruled from 1681-1725. The path leaving the monastery district to the south is accompanied on the eastern side by the quarry stone wall of the monastery garden." (denkxweb.denkmalpflege-hessen.de/6463/)

The archway house alone is worth seeing. When you walk through it, your gaze immediately falls on the imposing basilica.
